Chambersburg was the place to be for auction goers on April 29th and 30th! Claystrong Enterprises held a very important two day Americana Auction at Claystrong Enterprises Auction House. The auction featured over 1000 lots of Important Americana antiques, including many unique items from the John (J.D.) Querry Estate, Martinsburg, PA. The auction preview took place inside Claystrong Enterprises Auction House at 610 N 5th Avenue, Chambersburg, while the auction took place right outside in a large, enclosed outdoor space.
Mr. Querry was an extensive dealer and collector of antiques and early Americana for over 50 years. He was an exhibitor/dealer at major shows all over the country, including the York Antique Show, the Baltimore Show and the Rhinebeck Show. Traveling was a passion for J.D. and he obtained many exclusive items during his frequent trips to England, France, Spain and Hong Kong. As the curator of the John DuPont collection, he helped Mr. DuPont amass a large quantity of Historic Blue China. This 2 day auction will offer a wide array of exquisite antiques including early furniture, paintings, German Frakturs, blue decorated stoneware, Mocha Ware, Spatterware, a Philadelphia grandfather clock, early lighting, cast iron and other items too numerous to mention. Some of the highlights of the auction were the selling of a rare Schoolhouse Spatterware Cup and Saucer, a John Bell double stamped unglazed umbrella stand and a George Jones Monumental Majolica Centerpiece Punch Bowl.
